7 Ways To Monetize Your Blog

Monetize Your BlogIf you are an online marketer, the first thing you must have is a blog. As my mentor says, “your blog is your home on the internet”. She is exactly right. This is the place where you get to show the world what you are about. I suggest that you have a hosted WordPress blog which means you must purchase a domain name and hosting.

Once your blog is established, you want to start to monetize it. You need to make money if this is going to be a business. Zac Johnson wrote an article on Forbes.com called “Seven Ways To Generate Money Using Your Website Or Blog Content” He outlined the following ways to monetize your blog:

  1. Affiliate Marketing
  2. Google AdSense
  3. Native Advertising
  4. Selling Ad Space
  5. Creating An Online Course
  6. Selling Your Own Products Or Services
  7. Selling Your Website Or Blog For Multiple Earnings

Monetize Your Blog #1 – Affiliate Marketing

With affiliate marketing, you are recommending other people’s products and you receive a commission when someone buys. You are given a link that is unique to you that you can send to your list or share on social media. This is one of the best ways t start earning money because you don’t have to have your own products. This is one of the things that I do on a regular basis. I share affiliate products with my list, include affiliate links in my blog posts and short reports and share affiliate links on social media. I am very picky about what I promote. I only promote things that I believe in. If you want to learn more about affiliate marketing, then I recommend Really Simple Affiliate Marketing. This course teaches you the skills you need to become an affiliate marketer.

Monetize Your Blog #2 – Google AdSense

Another way you can monetize your blog is Google AdSense. Google AdSense is an advertising program that allows you to display advertisements on your own site. You get paid a commission on a pay-per-click basis for every time someone clicks the ad. I do not monetize my blog using Google AdSense.

Monetize Your Blog #3 – Native Advertising

With native advertising, people advertise on your site. Just like Google AdSense, you are usually paid when someone visiting your site clicks on the ad. In order for this to be effective, you need to have quite a bit of traffic coming to your site. I do not monetize my blog with native advertising.

Monetize Your Blog #4 – Selling Ad Space

You can sell ad space on your blog directly. In this case, you are getting all of the money. However, you must do the work to find people willing to advertise on your blog. You will have to disclose your blog traffic and the demographics of the people who visit your site. If you have installed Google Analytics, then it will be easy to disclose these facts.

Monetize Your Blog #5 – Creating An Online Course

If you know how to teach someone how to do something, then you may want t to create an online course. For instance, I know Google Analytics and this is something you need to know if order to understand the traffic you get to your site. I created the 15 Day Analytics Challenge that teaches you how to install Google Analytics on your blog and analyze the most important reports you need in just 15 days. I also created a course to teach people how to create affiliate niche sites. Think of the things that you know how to do that many others don’t and create an online course.

Monetize Your Blog #6 – Selling Your Own Products Or Services

Once you start a blog or a business, you become successful at some point. To share this with others, you can coach or consult people or create a product. One part of my business is to sell physical products on Amazon. One thing that I have become good at is how to analyze products at trade shows to determine if they would be profitable on Amazon. Once I did these various times, I created a product, Trade Shows For Amazon FBA Sellers.

I also teach others how to sell on Amazon. I have a 4 week Jump Start program as well as a more intense 6-week course. Once you are good at something, you should consider teaching it to others. I was hesitant at first because there were already a lot of other people teaching my subject. Your course will be different and the way you teach it may make it finally click for some.

Monetize Your Blog #7- Sell Your Blog

The last way to monetize your blog is to sell it. There are sites available where you can advertise that your blog is for sell. Also, there are auction sites.

As you can see, there are many ways to monetize your blog. In the beginning, I would just pick two. Also, all of these ways may not resonate with you. I shared with you the way I monetize my blog and I do not use all 7 ways. Pick the ways that you feel comfortable doing.
