One of the biggest challenges for an Internet Marketing Newbie is to determine your niche. Your niche needs to be something you are passionate about. This makes it much easier to stay focused and develop creative content. So how do you know if your chosen niche is your passion? I will use myself as an example to answer this question.
My niche is teaching people in Corporate America how to start an internet marketing business part time while they are still working full time. Today, February 11th is my birthday. You might ask why I am sharing this information. I am spending my birthday at the Niche Affiliate Marketing System Conference (NAMS7) in Atlanta, Georgia. This is the second time I am attending this conference. I am so excited to be here and have no issues spending my birthday at an Internet Marketing conference. If you are willing to give up celebrating your birthday in a traditional manner or some other holiday to attend a conference related to your niche, then your chosen niche is your passion.
Also, this weekend I am missing a University of Maryland Women’s ACC Conference basketball game. People who know me know that I am an avid women’s basketball fan. Some of my friends would say that I am a fanatic. I have season tickets to the Washington Mystics, a WNBA team, as well as Maryland. If you are willing to give up missing an important event, than your chosen niche is your passion.
Lastly, if you think about your niche frequently, then it is probably your passion. I think about teaching people with a full time job how to start building a business online all the time. I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night with ideas that I must write down so I will not forget them. I am always thinking of blog posts, articles, training, products and classes that I can develop to make my target population successful. I sometimes find that ideas are running through my head when I should be concentrating on other things.
These are just some examples that validate that my chosen niche is my passion. You may have different criteria or different examples, but make sure that you are willing to sacrifice things you like to further your business.
