List building is the process of building a list of names and email addresses. Getting started with list building can seem like a daunting task at first, but it really isn’t all that complicated. There are many list building mistakes that you want to avoid such as not creating a free giveaway, not creating YouTube videos and not writing articles.
Mistake #1 – Failure to Create a Free Giveaway
One way to build your list is to create an opt-in box on your website for a free giveaway. The giveaway should have a compelling title. An easy giveaway to create is a free report. In order to get the report, people must opt-in to your list. The free report should be 5 to 7 pages and contain useful information for your audience. You can also monetize the report by including affiliate links in your report. The affiliate products that you can promote could be from products you use, products from people you know, Clickbank products, Amazon products or JV Zoo products.
Mistake #2 – Failure to Create YouTube Videos
YouTube gets a lot of traffic and people search for all types of information on YouTube. You can create a YouTube video with a tip that would be useful to your audience. The video should be less than 5 minutes long. Make sure you include a link for people to sign up on your list. Also, make sure you include a call to action. The video could be a PowerPoint video, a video of you explaining something or a video of you performing some task on the computer. Creating video tutorials are very popular in YouTube.
Mistake #3 – Failure to Write Articles
Article writing is a great traffic building resource. You can write 400 to 500 word articles about topics in your niche that can be stored on article directory sites. In the resource box, you should include a link to opt-in to your list as well as a call to action. There are many free article directories where you can submit your articles such as EzineArticles, ArticlesBase, GoArticles, IdeaMarketers or ArticleSnatch.
As you can see, you can build your list by avoiding these three mistakes. These activities described in this post are free so I strongly encourage you to try them.
