So, What Is A Sales Funnel, Anyway?

Sales FunnelFor an online business owner, a sales funnel is probably the most important marketing tool you have. And yet many entrepreneurs – both new and established – have no clear understanding of what a funnel is or how it works.

As you can imagine, failing to fully understand this critical part of your business means fewer sales, lower profits, and ultimately, an unstable business.

A Simple Sales Funnel

At its most basic, a sales funnel consists of free content, which typically requires nothing of your readers. Many sales funnels begin with blog posts, YouTube videos, Facebook content, and other information readers can access at no cost. This is the “top” of your funnel.

So the top of my sales funnel begins with my blog at Leave The Corporate World Behind and my Facebook page Leave The Corporate World Behind. People can also download free reports on my website. These are at the top of my sales funnel.

Next, you’ll have an attractive offer that requires a very small “payment” of sorts – typically an email address. You’ve seen this type of offer on websites all over the internet, and probably even signed up for some. This is the free ebook or guide, video series, checklist, workbook, or other valuable content that is available in exchange for “opting in” to an email list.

My example of this type of an offer, is the opt-in box on my blog. For their first name and email, the prospect gets the report 10 Things You Must Do Before You Leave The Corporate World Behind. I need to create more opt-in pages outside of my blog for this niche. For my other niche which is Amazon FBA, I do have a free giveaway on a separate page at Get Started With FBA Now.

Once on your mailing list, you’ll then present your readers with a series of low-cost offers. Perhaps you have a low-priced ebook or a trial membership. This can be down using an autoresponder. The autoresponder I use is Aweber. You can send broadcast messages or autoresponder messages. Autoresponder messages are saved and are sent in a sequence.

Customers who purchase your low-priced product move further down the funnel, and are presented with more, higher priced products. As they continue to buy, they move closer and closer to your top-end offers, which make up the bottom of your funnel. If you are using an autoresponder like Aweber, you can set it up so each time they move down the funnel, they are automatically added to another list and removed from the previous one. For example, if people opt in to a free report associated with a product, they are added to a list that continues to market the product. Once they buy the product, they are removed from that list and added to a buyer list.

 How Your Sales Funnel Works

If you imagine your sales funnel as looking like, well, a funnel, it’s easy to see that your free content—at the top—is consumed by the largest number of readers. Below that, your extreme low-cost item (available only for the cost of an email address) attracts a smaller subset of the true freebie seekers. Next, your low-priced products bring in yet a smaller group. Finally, as you near the tip of the funnel, only the loyalest of fans and customers will purchase your highest priced offers.

Your job, as the business owner, is to ensure that your funnel leads buyers naturally from the top, free offers all the way to the bottom. The more buyers you can keep in your funnel, the more money you will make.

Most new—and even established—business owners can easily envision the top of the funnel, but if you truly want your business to grow, you must master the entire process, and that starts with understanding what a sales funnel really is and how it works.

Passive Income Creation – Eight Ways to Create Passive Income

Passive Income CreationThere are many ways to create passive income online today – more ways than this one article can give you. Perhaps you will get your creative juices flowing by looking at these ideas for making passive income online. If you are new to passive income you may want to check out What Is Passive Income. Below are eight ways of passive income creation.

Passive Income Creation #1 –  YouTube Channel

Creating a YouTube channel to make passive income can take a lot of work. But, the video you make today can earn money for you forever, or at least as long as YouTube continues to do things the way they now do it.

The best way to proceed is to come up with a good idea that your audience will enjoy and try to put up as many videos as you can each week, no less than one a week. With YouTube, consistency is the key. A good example of a high earning YouTube Channel is Mother Goose Club which earns millions a year.

Passive Income Creation #2 –  Niche Website / Blog

A niche website or blog is a great way to earn passive income. At first, you’ll have to work extra hard getting up the right content, and finding the right products to promote.

A good example of a blog that earns good money is RealitySteve. You don’t have to create something about celebrities to earn a lot of money, though.

Passive Income Creation #3 – Kindle eBooks

You can write and publish Kindle eBooks for passive income. It’s easy and free to publish on Kindle. You can write the books yourself, or you can truly make it passive by outsourcing it to someone else to do. A man by the name of Ty Cohen makes millions via Kindle publishing. There are more, so that means it’s possible.

Passive Income Creation #4 –  Develop an App

You can also create apps to earn passive income. You don’t need to know even one bit of code, because you can find a freelancer on a site like Upwork to do it for you. Then you will promote the app to your audience. The app will earn money for a long time if you create the right kind.

Passive Income Creation #5 – Create an eCourse

With all the simple software that is available now, you can take your idea and create a course in no time. Try using a system like Udemy to promote and sell your course. Look “sell your eCourse online for money” and you’ll find plenty of ways to do it.

Passive Income Creation #6 –  Develop Information Products

This is one of my favorites, developing information products. You can write or use digital video to create information products to promote to your audience. In fact you can put them on ClickBank, JVZoo, Nanacast and other affiliate networks to allow others to sell the product too for a percentage. This is the fastest way to start making passive income if you have an audience to promote to.

Passive Income Creation #7 – Membership Website

If you have knowledge that others want, you can put it behind a membership wall and collect a monthly fee for those who want to join. Some good examples of memberships that make money are Product Drop and the membership community Living Plant Based. Any idea that you have can work as a membership community. The WordPress plugin WishList Member is an excellent way to create membership sites.

Passive Income Creation #8- Become a Niche Affiliate Marketer

There are many products already created that you can start to promote now. You can go to ClickBank, JVZoo and other affiliate networks to find products that have affiliate programs that are ready for you to promote. Simply use proven systems to promote their products, and you can be making passive income in no time. A good tool to help find profitable Clickbank products is CBEngine.

While the beginning of creating passive income is anything but “passive,” the point is that once you start creating and marketing these products you will stop the treadmill of trading hours for dollars. Instead of being limited by how much time you have each day, you’ll be able to sell your products to as many people as you desire.

There are many products that can help you set up your passive income. You can get the Passive Income Cheat Sheet or the Passive Income Planner.

What Is Passive Income?

Passive IncomeWhen people see the term “passive” income, they often think of earning money with no work. However, nothing can be further from the truth. The fact is, it does require work to make passive income. However, the work you do is done once, and then you keep making money later on the work you did before. It’s different from service-based work where you must do the work each time to produce income. With passive income, you create something today that keeps earning money later.

Examples of Passive Income

Some examples of passive income that you may be aware of are savings accounts, investments, and real estate; all of these enable you to spend money one time, or spend some money one time, and keep earning income into infinity. But, you can also earn passive income online today. Some examples are information products, membership websites, eCourses, and eBook sales.

The Benefits of Passive Income

People who want to earn money from passive income understand how trading hours for dollars can be limiting. They want to put their time and money to use one time and keep earning from those efforts. It’s the way insurance sales people have made money for years. They earn a little commission from each person that buys and keeps paying for insurance; then the more people they sell the insurance to, the bigger and bigger their monthly income becomes. It might take a lot of work to get there, but eventually through momentum it seems like everything becomes a lot easier.

The Two Types of Passive Income

If you would like to earn an income via passive income, there are several ways to do so online. However, mostly you can break it down to two different ways.

Promote Other People’s Products

This is one of the fastest ways to get started. Figure out who you want to sell to, know the audience well, and then find products and solutions for them to promote. There are even membership websites where you can promote to them so that you can earn a monthly residual income that grows. If you need ideas on how to promote other people’s products check out my post Affiliate Marketing Promotion – Nine Ways to Promote Other People’s Products.

Create Your Own Products

This is another way that you can get involved with making passive income online. At first, creating the product is a lot of work, but once you get a number of affiliates promoting the product, the income will grow exponentially, month after month and year after year.

The main question now is who your audience is, and which way you’ll go. Most people actually choose both methods. They sell other people’s products, and they create their own. Most people start with selling other people’s products, then eventually create their own after they get some experience with building a list and other marketing methods.

If you want to jump start your passive income, consider the Passive Income Planner. Use this planner to create a list building freebie, a mini digital product or create a training library.

Product Review – How To Get 100K In A Year Blueprint

How To Get 100K In A YearOne of the problems when you are starting an online marketing or internet marketing business is you are not sure what to do next. You flounder and spend time on the wrong activities. What you need is a blueprint. A blueprint tells you what the next step is. The How To Get 100K In A Year Blueprint is your answer.

Do you think that it is so hard to make 100K a year in online marketing? Well, it is not. If you want to earn a six-figure income in online marketing then this blueprint tells you exactly what to do. You only need to do 5 things. That is it. 5 things. This blueprint goes into detail on the things you need to do.

This blueprint includes the following:

  • Why A Blueprint Is Critical For Internet Marketing Success
  • Why You Should Create A 1 Year Blueprint
  • Follow A Proven Model Within Your Blueprint
  • The 10K A Month Blueprint
  • Planning Out Each Track In Your Blueprint
  • Blueprint Checklist
  • Implementing Your Blueprint

One of the key take-aways that I got from this product is “You don’t make money online but you exchange a value to others in exchange for their money”. Online marketing is very “others-centered”. It is service oriented. Focus on service to others not on making money. I think if you have this mindset then you will be more successful.

The most important take-away that I discovered is during your working hours, only work on what is in your blueprint. Don’t get caught up in distractions. One thing that happens is that people get distracted with email, social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and YouTube. There is time to do these things but while you are working on the tasks in your blueprint, stay away from these distractions.

There is one thing that I don’t totally agree with. The blueprint states that if you don’t know how to do something in the blueprint, then learn it. I am all for learning but sometimes it is better to outsource the task. For example, I am not a graphics person. Instead of me trying to learn Photoshop, I outsource my graphics.

The thing that I really liked about this product is it teaches you how to equate your 5 tasks to a dollar amount so you can determine what you need to do to make your money goals.

Do you have a dream of getting out of the rat race? Do you want to control your own destiny? Do you want to stop trading time for dollars? This  How To Get 100K In A Year Blueprint is your answer. Learn how to do only 5 things to completely change your life. No more analysis by paralysis. Stop suffering from overwhelm and get started now.

Affiliate Marketing Promotion – Nine Ways to Promote Other People’s Products

Affiliate Marketing PromotionWhen you promote other people’s products and make a commission from the sales, that is considered affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is a great way to make another income and it can quickly become a full-time income if you play your cards right. Some affiliate marketers are making high six figures, and you can too. Here are nine ways to promote other people’s products and earn money in the process.

Affiliate Marketing Promotion #1 – Start a Blog

Blogging about a topic is a great way to promote other people’s products. You can approach a blog from many directions… from creating product reviews, to providing general education, to more directly promoting a certain product or solution.

Affiliate Marketing Promotion #2 – Social Media Marketing

The best way to get the word out about affiliate products is to talk about them on social media. You can share blog posts, write new posts, and even run ads right on social media about the product you want to promote.

Affiliate Marketing Promotion #3 – Write an eBook or Short Report

It might seem strange, but you can promote affiliate products within an eBook. Just think creatively and get a specialized domain name that will be easy for people to remember. You can also offer a free report that promotes affiliate products in it or you could include a resource page that includes affiliate products.

Affiliate Marketing Promotion #4 – Facebook Ads

One of the simplest forms of advertising today are Facebook ads. You can differentiate your audience down to the nitty-gritty and its super simple to use. There are many courses you can take to ensure that you make money with Facebook ads.

Affiliate Marketing Promotion #5 – Podcasts

If you have a regular podcast show, you can recommend products on your show. The best way to do this is to recommend products that are complimentary to the subject you are talking about. You can even have the product creator on your show as a guest. I recommend including a study guide as well.

Affiliate Marketing Promotion #6 – Email Marketing

Setting up an autoresponder so that you can market to your audience via email is a great way to promote multiple affiliate products to them. If you have identified several solutions for your audience, this is a great way to ensure that they will learn all about them.

Affiliate Marketing Promotion #7 – Craigslist Ads

If you offer solutions for people, whether digital or not, you can market them via Craigslist. You just have to do it under the right category and in the right way. But you can find a lot of leads via Craigslist.

Affiliate Marketing Promotion #8 – Press Release

Sending out a good old-fashioned press release is a great way to promote any product or service. You simply have to find the story angle and know how to present it to so that you can get widespread views on your press release. WebWire is the service I use for press releases.

Affiliate Marketing Promotion #9 – Video Marketing

YouTube is a great way to start selling affiliate products. Do informative videos, product unpacking, and reviews via YouTube and you’ll soon be able to earn a full-time living; not just by selling the product, but due to the shared ad revenue on YouTube.

Using these methods to promote the affiliate products you want to sell can be very lucrative. The real trick is to pick two or three and perfect them. Don’t add anything to the mix until you’ve exhausted all possibilities with what you chose.

You can simplify your affiliate marketing by using templates. The DFYTemplates Affiliate Marketing Package make it easy to grow your audience and sell more products.

Top Ten Affiliate Marketing Tips

Affiliate Marketing TipBeing a successful affiliate marketer can be very lucrative. You will make a percentage of sales for each item that you convince someone to buy. This means that you don’t have to create a product or even make a web page. You can use many methods to promote the products, such as email marketing, blogging, podcasting and social media. Here are the top ten affiliate marketing tips.

Affiliate Marketing Tip #1 – Promote Only Products You Believe In

It’s so much easier telling people about products or services that you truly love and believe in. You’ll have much more to say about them if you like them. You’ll be able to explain the benefits so much better if you are passionate about the products.

Affiliate Marketing Tip #2 – Learn Traffic-Building Strategies

It’s important to learn as much as you can about search engine optimization and other traffic-building strategies. You want to push and pull as much traffic to your products as possible. It doesn’t matter if it’s to a sales page or to a website with more information; you will need to build traffic using every means available to you.

Affiliate Marketing Tip #3 – Know Your Audience

In order to best provide good products, you’ll need to ensure that you know who your audience is. If you know them well, you will know what they want in a product or service. You’ll know what their problems are and find a way to offer them products that solve them.

Affiliate Marketing Tip #4 – Provide Value to Your Audience

Anything you offer your audience, whether free or paid, should provide value above all else. If the things you offer don’t make the audience feel like they’re getting more than they paid for, they’re going to be unhappy.

Affiliate Marketing Tip #5 – Follow the Rules and Laws

Disclose that you have an affiliate relationship with the items that you promote and that you’ll earn a small percentage of sales. It’s the law first of all, and secondly, it’s just a nice thing to do. People will not be upset about it if you let them know up front. WP Legal Pages is a WordPress plugin that you can use to make sure you have the correct disclosures on your websites.

Affiliate Marketing Tip #6 – Test Different Designs and Copy

When you come up with copy, sales pages or ad designs for your promotions, make sure to test them out to find out which kind works better for your audience. Change one small thing at a time to find out which version does better.

Affiliate Marketing Tip #7 – Work with the Affiliate Manager

If you are promoting products that have an affiliate program and they have an affiliate manager, this is a great sign of a wonderful product. The great thing is you can work with the affiliate manager to ensure you have the marketing collateral you want to use to promote.

Affiliate Marketing Tip #8 – This Is Not a Get-Rich-Quick Scheme

One thing to keep in mind as you move forward with your new affiliate marketing career is that it’s not going to happen overnight that you go from zero dollars to six figures. You can make unlimited profit, but it will take some time.

Affiliate Marketing Tip #9 – Get Good at Review Writing

One way to promote affiliate products is to write great product reviews. Write them for your own content purposes, but also write them on other platforms where the product lives. This could be a blog post, an audio or a video.

Affiliate Marketing Tip #10 – Be Yourself

The best thing you can give your audience is a glimpse into who you are. That’s what makes you unique and special. Your audience will appreciate getting to know you, and that will make them trust you more.

If you follow these ten affiliate marketing tips, then you can be very successful at affiliate marketing. All you have to do is make a plan to promote the products to the right people at the right time. Also, make sure that you only recommend products that you will stand behind.

Market Online Using Email

Market Online Using EmailNine Ways to Market Online Using Email

Email marketing is one of the most important and effective forms of marketing to ever be invented. The conversion rate for appropriate email approaches four to seven percent over time. That’s because a new client needs to see a brand seven to eight times before they trust it enough to buy something. Email is the perfect way to do that. There are nine ways to market online using email.

Market Online Using Email #1 – Use the Right Software

There are many different types of email marketing software available but you need to read the fine print to be sure that you can do what you want to do with it. It’s safer to use a cloud-based service than one you use that is self-hosted, although those exist too. Both provide code for your subscription form.

Market Online Using Email #2- Autoresponder Series

No matter what else you do when it comes to online marketing, when someone gets on your list be sure to send them something no less often than weekly. Less than that and they’re going to forget about you, and they might even think you’re spamming them because they forgot. Set up triggered emails in the service to go out on a regular basis.

Market Online Using Email #3 –  ECourses

A great way to fill up your email marketing autoresponder is with an eCourse that delivers daily or weekly with information and assignments for your audience. This is not only a good way to teach them something but also a good way to suggest other products.

Market Online Using Email #4 – Easy Recurring Content

Autoresponders offer the ability to set up easy recurring content that goes out on a triggered basis, either by setting a date or by setting an interval.

Market Online Using Email #5 – E=Newsletter

Some marketers use newsletters to send information to their audience. Newsletters are often larger and available on the site in HTML so a subscriber can view them via email or on the site. A newsletter can go out monthly or more often. Be sure to tell your audience how often they’ll get the newsletter so they know what to expect.

Market Online Using Email #6 – Craft Effective Headlines

It’s very important that headlines and subject lines be specific, keyword rich, and something the audience will want to open and see. Don’t be tricky or too cheeky as people don’t click through unless they know what’s inside.

Market Online Using Email #7 – Personalize Email

Autoresponder technology allows you to personalize an email based on the information you’ve gathered from your audience. You can collect first name and email, and then you can send your email to, “Dear Sally,” instead of no one.

Market Online Using Email #8 – Use Double Opt-In

You may want to use a double opt-in procedure. This means that the person subscribes at your website, then they agree that they subscribed via their email. Using this method offers proof if it ever comes up that you are not sending SPAM.

Market Online Using Email #9 – Don’t Forget The Call To Action

When you send emails to anyone for any reason, you should include a call to action. It might be to share the newsletter with others, to like you on social media, to try out software you recommend or something else entirely.

You simply cannot have a good online marketing plan if you don’t involve yourself with email marketing. In fact, everything else you do marketing wise should all lead back to building your email list. A targeted email list will enable you to give yourself a raise whenever you want one.

If you want additional help with your email marketing, I recommend Emailtivity.  Emailtivity is a series of 20 List-Marketing Checklists for creating and growing responsive mailing lists.

How To Get Paid For An Email Course

get paid for an email courseAn important aspect of having an email course is finding a way to monetize it. Making money for your hard work is important. When you make money doing something you love, and that you really know how to do, it will enable you to do more of it. This can help more people learn the information that they need to know. Find out what you nee to get paid for an email course.

You can set up a PayPal subscription payment with a simple link to set up an eCourse. Set up a sales page with the payment option, and then send them to a thank you page with a sign-up sheet. That will sign them up for the autoresponder with the eCourse. You can also integrate PayPal with Aweber so they are automatically added to a list when they subscribe.

WishList Member

WishList Member is a membership software, which you don’t need to run an eCourse, but it is a good way to set them up to avoid issues with people unsubscribing and still being on the course list, as can happen with PayPal. Also, you can store the emails inside of the membership site so people can access them later.

Upsells are a great way to make money from a free email course. This could be a product you’ve shown them that they need, such as a private membership group and other related products to the course.

Affiliate Programs

Your course may suggest different types of tools, software and services to your audience. This is a good opportunity to include an affiliate link. You do need to disclose in your terms of service on the sign-up page for the course that some links will be affiliate links. However, most people will not mind if you are suggesting things you’ve tried that work. WP Legal Pages is a WordPress plugin that makes it easy to add terms of service to your pages.

Exclusive Offers

People on your list will love feeling exclusive. Use the list to make “list member only” special offers. When you hype up these offers to let them know that they are honestly the only ones getting a “sneak peek exclusive offer” and an inside view of your products and services, they’ll be excited to get the chance.

If you have other offers outside of this course, such as more courses, you can cross-promote. This is an offer that is related to the course your customer is taking, but is not a sale that’s directly related to the course they’re in now.

If you’ve given a good eCourse to your audience, you can offer to give them extra help with one-on-one coaching or group coaching calls for a fee. Make the offer through the course in the beginning, toward the middle and at the end.

If you give it some thought, you’ll be able to cash in on email courses. You can make it as simple as you want, or as complicated as you want, depending on which software you choose to use. But, one thing is for sure; you can make money and get paid for an email course.
